What is high frequency PCB and its characteristics and materials
What is high frequency PCB?
Radio frequency (RF) and microwave (MW) circuits can be found in countless wireless products, from handheld devices used in medical and industrial applications to advanced communications systems used in base stations, radar and global positioning. The success of these high-speed products begins during the product design phase when selecting PCB laminate materials. KKPCB works with the product design team to ensure that the project’s cost/performance goals are met by providing information on material selection, associated costs and DfM considerations.
High-frequency PCB refers to a special circuit board with a higher electromagnetic frequency. It is used in the fields of high frequency (frequency greater than 300MHZ or wavelength less than 1 meter) and microwave (frequency greater than 3GHZ or wavelength less than 0.1 meter). It is a microwave substrate coated Copper board is a circuit board produced by using part of the ordinary rigid circuit board manufacturing method or using special processing methods.
The characteristics of high-frequency PCB are as follows:
1. DK must be small enough and stable enough. Usually, the smaller the better, high DK may cause signal transmission delay.
2. The DF should be small, which mainly affects the signal transmission quality. The smaller the DF, the smaller the signal loss.
3. The thermal expansion coefficient should be the same as that of the copper foil as much as possible, because the difference will cause the copper foil to separate during hot and cold changes.
4. The water absorption rate must be low. High water absorption rate will affect DK and DF in humid environment.
5. Good heat resistance, chemical resistance, impact resistance and peeling resistance.

Advantages of high frequency PCB
1. High-frequency circuit boards with small dielectric constants will have very small losses, and advanced induction heating technology can achieve target heating needs with very high efficiency. Of course, while focusing on efficiency, it also has environmental protection characteristics, which is very suitable for the development direction of today’s society.
2. The transmission rate is inversely proportional to the square root of the dielectric constant, which means that the smaller the dielectric constant, the faster the transmission rate. This is the advantage of high-frequency circuit boards. It uses special materials, which not only ensures a small dielectric constant, but also maintains stable operation, which is very important for signal transmission.
3. High-frequency circuit boards are widely used in various industries for heating processing of precision metal materials. In the process of this field, it can not only realize the heating of components at different depths, but also focus on heating the local characteristics, whether it is the surface or the Deep, centralized or decentralized heating ducts can be easily completed.
4. The dielectric constant and medium have certain requirements on the environment, especially in the south. Humid weather will seriously affect the use of circuit boards. High-frequency circuit boards made of materials with extremely low water absorption can challenge such an environment. At the same time, they also have the advantages of resistance to chemical corrosion, moisture resistance, high temperature resistance, and great peel strength, allowing high-frequency circuit boards to exert powerful performance.
