Key Features

  1. Stable Dielectric Properties:
    • Consistent Dk and Df values across a wide frequency range.
  2. Thermal Reliability:
    • High glass transition temperature (Tg) ensures performance in thermal cycling environments.
  3. Low Moisture Absorption:
    • Minimizes impact on electrical properties in high-humidity or moisture-prone applications.
  4. Cost-Effective Fabrication:
    • Compatible with FR-4 processing techniques, reducing overall production costs.
  5. Environmentally Robust:
    • Designed for demanding conditions, including automotive, aerospace, and outdoor telecommunications.

Applications

  • Cellular base station antennas.
  • Automotive radar and sensors (e.g., Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – ADAS).
  • Satellite communication systems.
  • High-speed digital interconnects.
  • Power amplifiers and RF filters.

Fabrication Guidelines

Drilling

  • Use carbide or diamond-coated drill bits for precise hole formation.
  • Desmear using plasma or sodium etching for PTFE-enhanced variants.

Lamination

  • Process with typical lamination temperatures between 375°F and 425°F (190°C–218°C).
  • Apply pressures between 200–300 PSI (14–21 bar).

Plating and Etching

  • Compatible with industry-standard etching and plating chemistries.
  • Thin copper foils benefit from reinforced handling during fabrication.

Surface Finishes

  • Supports immersion tin, immersion silver, ENIG, and OSP.

Environmental and Safety Compliance

  1. Flammability: UL 94 V-0 rating.
  2. RoHS and REACH Compliant: Meets global environmental standards.
  3. Low Outgassing: Suitable for aerospace and space applications.

Storage and Handling

  • Store laminates in a clean, dry environment with temperatures between 20–25°C (68–77°F).
  • Use within one year of receipt for optimal performance.

Advantages of RO4835™

RO4835™ laminates offer enhanced oxidative stability, making them ideal for high-reliability applications requiring extended service life and improved environmental resistance
